Frequently Asked Questions

How much experience does Perfusion Quality Servicestm have?

Rebekah Trittipoe, the founder of the company, has over 23 years of clinical perfusion experience and nearly as many in quality management as it relates to perfusion.  She has extensive practical experience and has been very involved in teaching the principles of quality management to perfusion audiences across the nation and internationally.  She has also served in the role as the Director of Quality Management for several contract perfusion services and authored The Practical Handbook of Quality Improvement, Quality Control and Risk Management for Perfusion.

I am a perfusion contractor.  What about confidentiality?  I need to protect my business.

We appreciate your role as a contractor and the need to protect contract and other proprietary information.  We also understand that we may became aware of the details of your business in the course of our work.  However, we hold to the strictest standards of non-disclosure about any aspect of our work with you, your business, clinical findings and any ongoing projects.  Without your permission, we will not even reveal that Perfusion Quality Services is contracted with you for services.  This condition of confidentiality will be contractually promised.

I think my department is in pretty good shape but I would appreciate an outside opinion.  Can you do that?

Of course.  We are happy to bring a different perspective for you to consider.  Perhaps the most gratifying part of doing business is the healthy conversation that inevitably develops in the process.  It is stimulating for both parties and often times produces a novel approach that brings improvement to a process.

My department has never written a policy and procedure manual.  Can you help?

Writing policy and procedures (P/P) can be a monumental job.  We are happy to assist in a number of ways.  We can come in, conduct interviews, watch you work, take notes and begin writing the P/P for your major aspects of care.  Or, we can develop a working outline and checklist of things that should be included, pointing you in the right direction and enabling your group to work together on the project.  Depending on the time and resources that you have to commit to this work, we can stand in the gap and provide whatever assistance you require.

We are wondering if our peri-operative blood services meet the strict standards of the AABB.  What do you know about that?

There are always new things to learn, that's for sure.  But, in the spring of 2007, Rebekah underwent training to be a peri-operative assessor for the AABB.  We believe that this credential equips us to help guide you in developing guidelines, processes and documentation that will stand up to the standards set forth by the AABB.

Do you come to us or work from a distance?

Again, that will all depend on what services are required.  Obviously, if you desire the basic risk and quality assessment package, we will need to be on-site for that work.  However, if you want us to do a periodic review of your perfusion records looking for compliance to practice standards, then we can do this from our office.  Remember, we can very flexible so that you can attain the level of service that you desire.

Will I have a contract?

Yes.  The contract is simple and straightforward, void of complicated legalese.

How will I be charged?

Like most consulting arrangements, the standard way to charge is via an hourly fee.  And, in some cases, that applies to the way you will be charged.  However, with the Basic Quality and Risk Assessment packages, there is a set fee.  That way, there are no surprises for anyone.  Furthermore,  when onsite work for five or more days is contracted, discounts in the hourly and daily fees are offered.

What will I be charged?

We will need to know what services you require before we can talk specific price.  But, be assured that in general, a standard day of service only costs about the same as an experienced fee-for-service perfusionist.

If we need you to work on-site, who pays for travel and expenses?

The client will be responsible for necessary expenses such as coach air, rental car, hotel, parking and a reasonable per diem.  We will routinely take care of making travel arrangements unless it is in the client's best interest for the client to make the arrangements.  Regardless, we are committed to working with the client in obtaining the best rates possible in order to hold costs at bay.

Do you have a separate charge for travel time?

That depends on what is contracted.  However, in most cases, we will be able to arrange the contract so that travel time is not an additional charge.

What would we need to pay up front?

Nothing.  All fees will be charged following the service rendered.

What are the terms of the invoice?

You will be billed immediately following the service and the invoice will need to be paid within 15 days.  Interest will accrue following the 15 day period.

Will I be penalized if I contract for service and then have to cancel?

Depending on when you cancel, you could be liable for cancellation penalties and travel tickets that had been pre-purchased.  The specifics of these arrangements are clearly defined in the contract.

What do I need to do to get started?

A phone call (434-238-2118) or an email (rtrittipoe@aol.com) is all that is needed to get started.
